Raid Performance

It is great to be able to share some of the same interests as your spouse. We both love to play video games and one that we enjoy playing together – most of the time – is Destiny.

There are these special in-game challenges called raids where you take a group of six – called a fireteam – and you battle big bosses, solving puzzles, and winning sweet loot. Raids can be a lot of fun but also frustrating. After one frustrating session, Jazz decided to help me do better to which I was in no mood to hear it. It was way too soon to be discussing such issues.

This is a classic example of Jazz explaining things as he loves props like salt shakers, pencils, napkins – really anything within arms reach. Sometimes his method of explaining things is helpful but most of the time it just provides a good basis for making fun of him. Either way it’s fun for me.

Paint More Minis

Magenta has her hands in front of her with mesmerizing eyes and the text says, "I want all the minis."

Lately I have been painting miniatures and am loving it. It’s nice to see improvement which just encourages me to paint more. I find it relaxing and fun just to paint and zone in on this small figure that has all of my attention. On some level it is mediation.

My husband’s love of Kickstarter projects grows each year. One project he always backs is Reaper Minis and their Bones – plastic miniatures that are at an insanely good deal during the campaign. I recently organized all of the unpainted Bones I could find and didn’t count them because I didn’t want to depress myself with how little we have actually painted of what we own. Now that I’m painting more I hope to tackle more of those bare minis before the next batch arrives in Spring 2021.

Cat Box

Jazz and Magenta have just put together a cat condo for the cat but the cat is sitting in the box it came in. Magenta says, "At least she likes the box."

Cats are so much like children. Our daughter would play with the box the toy came in as much as the toy itself. The cats are the same way. They enjoy a nice cardboard box over pretty much every cat toy.

Game Streaks

Bug says, "I had to spend five dollars to save my game streak since I missed yesterday." To which Magenta says, "I'm not sure you understand what a streak is. Nice for the developer to monetize it though."

The term ‘game streak’ means less if a game allows you to buy a skipped day, but that’s just me. I can see that if you have a really good streak like over thirty days that missing a day could be soul-crushing. I have been using Duolingo every day and now have a 30 day and counting streak. I have gotten out of bed at night just to keep my streak alive. So I get that streaks ae fun. I guess I’m just old-fashioned that I don’t want to buy to keep a streak going.
