Raising a Gen Z kid – Potty Mouth

Raising a Gen Z kid

I’m starting a new set of comics called ‘Raising a Gen Z kid’ although I just realize it should be ‘rearing’ as my 12th grade English teacher Mrs. Naive would always say. You raise chickens, she would remind us. But I’m thinking that raising a Gen Z kid is more like livestock than I care to admit.

She says what she wants – unafraid of any consequences. We never made a big deal of cussing because – let’s face it – she is hearing all of these words nearly daily from her parents – especially her father. When she was little, we just didn’t make a big deal out of it as some might laugh at hearing a 4-year-old muttering “What the Hell?” but laughing reinforces that it’s funny and in her mind, she should do it again.

I admire her for her boldness and willingness to speak her truth. Maybe I can learn something from her.

Cat Shredder

The cat is very good at this. It can make quite a mess with all those small pieces to pick up, but I’ve never seen such joy either.

Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions

2023 already? I was just beginning to accept it was 2022. No resolutions this year. I am striving to live a healthier life in 2023 by eating better and exercising more. Looking to make some lifestyle changes. Hoping I can keep my sense of humor through it all.

One Panel Comics

I’ve started doing more one-panel comics. I don’t want to do them exclusively but love the challenge of setting up and delivering a joke in a limited space. The Far Side by Gary Larson is by far my biggest comic influence. The one-panel comic is just close to my heart so I want to create more and get better at it.

January 2023 Calendar Page

January 2023 Calendar page

I’m so excited about this project! Each month I will offer a monthly calendar page that you can download by clicking on the image. Next year the goal will be to have all pages down at one time but this is a learning process so I’m hoping that by the time December rolls around that these calendar pages will be *chefs kiss* perfection!

Until then, I will do one at a time and tweak as I go.
