Can’t Do It

We had a ‘test run’ so to speak of her returning to school as she had to be on campus for testing. The house felt so empty even though I wasn’t alone. While I’m looking forward to in-school classes again, I will miss her fiercely.

This school year has been the most interesting. Having my child never leave her room and attend all of her classes each day is incredible. I think we are both ready for school to be back in person. It’s nice to know that remote learning is possible but the experience of school – well there is just nothing like it.

We live such exciting lives. Someone asked this week what was our weekend plans. Our plans are always the same – do as little as possible. It’s not a great plan and certainly not exciting. Some day we will make plans again.

There was a poster I had when I was a teenager that had an ugly toad on it sitting on a plate with the words, “Eat a live toad in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” I feel this phrase has been recently transformed to ‘Eat that frog’ that means to do that one thing that you dread – then it will be behind you, and the day will just get better.
I do enjoy getting the most unpleasant to-do list item done first. But sometimes I feel too accomplished with myself and then ignore the other items. I mean I already did the top priority. I should celebrate and goof off the rest of the day.
Yeah, I don’t recommend this attitude.

I know they understand us and are just refusing to comply.
